This weekend we had a long list of boring but necessary jobs to get ticked off. We decided to book in to Fell’s Kitchen in Low Fell Gateshead for motivation.

Tucked away on the first floor of a premises on the Durham Road, in the heart of Low Fell, Fell’s Kitchen is a hidden, but very accessible, gem.

Although it was quiet when we arrived early evening with the children early on Saturday evening, we were warmly welcomed, and the place quickly filled up. This is always a popular choice among local people, as Fell’s Kitchen is known for a wide menu, friendly service, tasty good, generous portions and great value.

Richard plumped for the 3 course Fell’s Feast at Four offer at £9.95, choosing delicious potato skins, a huge and generously topped chorizo pizza and ice cream for pudding.

I ordered from the quite remarkably priced Early Bird 3 course meal menu running this weekend – priced an amazing £6.95. Like their Facebook page to keep up to date with these impressive offers! Although the sounded delicious, I substituted the black pudding and haggis, soup or fish goujons starter for potato skins, to share with the family. For my main course I thoroughly relished the pan fried chicken breast with black pudding, peppercorn sauce and creamy mash. It was wonderfullly hearty and warming and full of flavour, so perfect for a cold winter’s evening. It was so filling I didn’t even begrudge donating my third course of ice cream to the mini-apprentices!

They very much enjoyed the half and half pizza they shared, with their individual choice of toppings. They particularly appreciated that the waitress was kind and patient, listening attentively to their stories and responding with warmth and humour. (And then they enjoyed our ice creams!)

Fell’s Kitchen is spot on for a family meal. We’ve also enjoyed it previously for get togethers with friends, a quiet date night and large birthday parties.

For a treat that won’t fail to deliver and that’s amazingly easy on your wallet, head down to Fell’s Kitchen in Low Fell for a warm welcome.
