The interior design at home is very much my remit, but when we launched Talbot Jones Risk Solutions, Richard was really excited to have the opportunity to have an office that reflected our interests, values and passions rather than a drab, dull and dreary workplace.
Our walls are adorned with paintings by local artists, crafts made by our children, international insurance posters and a cabinet packed with Lego, transformers and toy soldiers.
Our newest addition is a piece commissioned by local artist Lucy Hudson of Button It Crafts, based from her little home studio in Wylam, Northumberland. We asked her to create a piece of art that reflected our brand. She cleverly used teal and orange buttons to create a really striking image of the Angel of the North. It’s a symbol of home for us: when we see its outreached arms as we drive north along the A1, we know we’ll be turning the door key in less than 10 minutes. It is an iconic symbol of our beloved North East and it also reflects the safety and protection that we are proud to offer our clients. We absolutely love what she created!
Lucy creates mixed media statement art pieces that are bright and colourful. As well as her skills creating striking pet portraits, she is excited to be moving towards providing a new offering to businesses, too, creating an opportunity for businesses to commission artwork that perfectly complements their brand, in terms of colour, style and subject. She uses beads, pearls, rhinestones and buttons to create the piece and, depending on the complexity of the design, they can take anywhere from 5 hours to 20 hours to complete.
Lucy set up Button It Crafts 2 years ago when she decided to leave her role as Head of Dance at a Northumberland school. Despite excellent examination results, she felt discouraged, as Dance did not seem to be valued and appreciated as a discipline. She decided to leave and set up her own dance school and to set up my art business. Now, she is greatly fulfilled by creeating art that is proudly hung in homes and offices, where it inspires and brings beauty.
Prices start from £40 for original art and £20 for my prints. Lucy also produces artwork also printed on mugs, coasters, tote bags and cards.
