Commercial Insurance Account Handler
Gateshead
Full time, 12 Months Fixed Term Contract
The Role
- Accurately gather material information from clients, assessing their demands & needs, ensuring that a fair presentation of the risk is obtained.
- Review and provide technical advice and opinion on clients’ and prospects’ insurance programmes
- Negotiate insurance premiums and cover with Insurers in line with client requirements
- Respond to client & insurer queries in a timely and accurate manner
- Check policy documents for accuracy prior to receipt by clients
- Process correspondence, mid-term adjustments, renewals, pre-renewal activity, quotations and computer input as applicable to the role
- Understand the client’s situation, opportunities and problems and design appropriate insurance solutions.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer service standards and external compliance regulations, e.g. FCA
- A stimulating work environment with a productive, energetic and supportive team
The Person
- Ideally you will have 2 years+ commercial insurance experience with either an insurer, broker, loss adjuster or claims management company. Candidates without 2 years commercial insurance experience will be considered if they have experience of working within the wider financial services industry.
- Demonstrable interest in any of the following: the Third Sector, Technology Sector and the business start-up scene.
- Initiative to develop new business leads in line with own interests.
- Ability to grow and develop the role as the company grows.
- Skills, attitude and resilience required to work within a small team in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain both quality and efficiency in line with the agreed service standards and KPIs.
- Will have confident IT skills and be familiar with all Microsoft Packages and ideally an insurance broking software platform e.g. Acturis.
- Good academic background supported by good grades at A-Level and/or GCSE in subjects that include Maths and English.
- Cert CII or Cert CILA desirable, but not essential.

- Starting salary of £17,000-£18,000 dependant on experience, with scope to increase as the business grows
